| "I believe everyone has some creative ability even if they are not aware of what it is and eventually that creativity has to surface one way or another". We ask Carol Stutchbury of Blue Tulip Design how she managed to find her place as a jewellery designer?
"I was a radiographer for 10 years until my son was born then studied for a degree in art and history with the Open University. I then retrained as an accountant until one day in 2005, on the spur of the moment, I handed in my notice".
What were your plans when you decided to hand your notice in?
"I didn't have a definite plan when I left work but thought I could work as a part time bookkeeper until I worked out what I was going to do. My Eureka moment came when I enrolled upon a course at the National Glass Centre in Sunderland to learn about making kiln fused glass".
Do you have any further developments currently underway?
"Yes, I am now beginning to design settings in sterling silver to set my glass into and I think this will keep me ahead of the competition for a while at least!"
