Aurora landscape photographer Jim Gibson has been selected as the outright winner in a mapping competition organized by Outdoor
Photography magazine.
This is a national publication dedicated to
promoting and featuring high quality landscape and outdoor imagery.
The
competition brief was to use map reading skills to locate suitable
landmarks and then to use these locations as photographic subjects.
This was ideal for Jim whose background in fell walking was the
principal reason for buying his first camera.
The featured images
include two Northumberland shots (Hadrian's Wall and Ingram Valley in
the Cheviots), Penshaw Monument silhouetted at dusk, and High Cup Nick,
a spectacular glaciated U-shaped valley high in the North Pennines' and
appear in the July 2008 edition which is out now.
