    BLOWN AWAY BY ICARUS LEAF

North East artist and designer, Alison J Best has created an exclusive set of original art prints entitled The Icarus Leaf Collection to commemorate the first anniversary for Pebbles Gallery & Art Café in Allendale. The Icarus Leaf is a set of 6 works developed from Alison's original Icarus fine art Expressionist Stencil.

The work has been inspired by Shelley's poem 'Ode to the West Wind'.  Alison explains that the concept came from watching falling autumn leaves swirling in the breeze in the afternoon sunlight at Pebbles.  The curling leaves in the sunlight brought to mind the story of Icarus who flew too near the sun and also Shelley's Ode to the West Wind. Shelley wrote about black leaves. This seemed appropriate for the Expressionist Stencil in the pure form of black.  The words from Ode to the West Wind are incorporated in prints 4 and 6.  The swirl patterns evoke the movement of the leaves in the wind.

All the artists who use and show work in Pebbles have just held the successful Allen Valley Art & Music Event and now Alison has produced these breathtaking hand finished prints that have already attracted considerable attention. Our birthday party seems to be carrying on into Christmas."
