PROM ART Grange-over-Sands – THE PERFECT DAY OUT

Would you like a day out with a difference – a chance to see into the creative world of the artist? Prom Art is uniquely situated in a beautiful setting along the curving promenade of Grange-over-Sands.

Over 90 artists and craftspeople line the prom, rather like an open air theatre. Stalls and gazebos overflow with original paintings, prints, textiles, stained glass, jewellery, patchwork and hundreds of crafts both fascinating and funky.

Prom Art makes a fabulous day out for all the family and gives visitors the chance to chat to the artists. Why is that tree there? What does that red dot mean? Will you paint my dog for me? How much does that lovely bag cost? Are you enjoying talking to the public? YES, YES and YES!

Prom Art has something for everyone, be it a bench to sit on and admire the view across Morecambe Bay, a cup of tea at the end of the 1/3rd of a mile long show, loos, ice-creams, a children’s play area and a terrific carnival atmosphere. Look out for the Morris Dancers and a group called Khameleon who combine their art with their own brand of entertainment.

Artists travel from many parts of the North of England and visitors come from far and near. You don’t have to be a Leonardo de Vinci or a Laura Ashley to enjoy yourself. Prom Art has a friendly atmosphere all of its own. Come and have fun – it’s free from 9.30-4pm.

Each of the last five years has seen a growth in the number of Prom Art participants and visitors – it is an ever expanding and popular event. At only £10 per session this year it is a bargain – for visitors of course it is always FREE, and there is disabled access to the promenade.

The dates for 2009 are April 26th, May 31st, June 28th, July 26th, August 30th and September 27th.
