Northumberland Art Fair

Woodhorn

Dear Artist/Gallerist,

Woodhorn is delighted to announce plans for a major Northumberland Art Fair in May 2009.

Woodhorn believes that Northumberland-based artists and gallerists should have a significant Art Fair to showcase the strength and breadth of artistic talent in the region. Within the last few years there have been various Art Fairs within Newcastle/Gateshead, and we aim to produce an equally high-profile event focussing on Northumberland.

The Northumberland Art Fair will take place over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend, from the 23rd to 25th May 2009. The event will be marketed through Woodhorn’s seasonal leaflet, press releases, website, on-site information points and also though Network Artists Art Tour Leaflet. Based on past experience, Woodhorn expects to receive over 1000 visitors per day during this Bank Holiday Weekend.

As 2009 will be the inaugural Northumberland Art Fair at Woodhorn, we will be running it on a not for profit basis, with the pitch prices only covering our expenses, such as re-painting after the event. Woodhorn will not charge any additional commission on sales. Further details for pitch-holders are included on page 2 of this letter.

We hope that you are as excited about this project as we are. For further details, or to book a pitch, please don’t hesitate to contact either;

(Please note that the deadline for booking pitches is the 31st March 2009.)

Further Details for Potential Pitch-Holders

  • Each pitch is priced at £130. For this, you will receive 4 metres of linear wall space, an optional trestle table and access to a power point. In order to keep costs as low as possible this year, there are no wall partitions between pitches.
  • There are 20 pitches available; artists/gallerists are welcome to share pitches, or to purchase more than one pitch.
  • The Fair will run for three days over the Spring Bank Holiday, and pitches must be manned by the pitch-holder for the full three days (10am to 5pm). Pitch-holders are responsible for the safety and security of their artworks during open hours.
  • Pitch-holders are responsible for organising their own financial transactions. Woodhorn will not charge commission, so no sales can be put through Woodhorn’s till system.
  • The installation day is Friday 22nd May, 10am – 4pm. Pitch-holders are responsible for their own installation.
  • Woodhorn will be responsible for the safety and security of artworks during closed times. Woodhorn has 24 hour security on site, and the Art Fair space is covered by CCTV, intruder and smoke alarms.
  • The Northumberland Art Fair aims to promote the wealth of artistic talent in Northumberland. Only high-quality, original or limited edition artworks should be on sale.
