Kielder Food & Craft Fair

Sunday 29 March 2009, 10am to 4pm
Leaplish Waterside Park

The Kielder Partnership, together with Made in Northumberland, will host the first Kielder Food & Craft Fair at Leaplish Waterside Park. The event aims to support local suppliers by showcasing a taste of quality food and craft produce available in the region. Local celebrity chef, Richard Sim, will be offering cookery demonstrations throughout the day and visitors will be invited to enter a free prize draw to win a hamper of local produce kindly provided by attendee stall holders.

The setting of Kielder Water & Forest Park will give visitors a great chance to combine their visit with one of the numerous activities the park has to offer, whether it be walking or cycling the new Lakeside Way path or trying out the excellent new mountain bike facilities.

Elisabeth Rowark, Kielder Partnership director, said: “Northumberland is famed for its locally produced seasonal produce from lamb, beef and game to fresh fish including mussels and salmon. At Kielder Water & Forest Park we strive to support the local economy and use local businesses wherever possible. This event is a great platform to show our visitors the excellent products Northumberland has to offer.”

Kielder Water & Forest Park is home to the largest forest in England and the largest man-made lake in Northern Europe. It was recently voted the most tranquil place in England by the Campaign to Protect Rural England.

Event highlights include:

  • A variety of food & craft stalls
  • Quality products from local suppliers
